Welcome to VON Hamilton

For over a century, VON has provided health care in the Hamilton community. Today’s active agency with 150 staff and 800 volunteers has come a long way from the one nurse branch started by Mrs. Adelaide Hunter Hoodless in 1899.  However, the spirit of care and compassion at its core and the commitment to individual health, dignity and well-being remain the same.

VON is committed to help people live independently in the community and have the best possible quality of life. With VON’s help, many elderly, ill or disabled persons have been able to delay or avoid admission to an institution.  People in hospitals have been able to return to their homes more quickly with VON support, and many caregivers have been given the assistance and relief they need to continue caring for a loved one at home.

VON - On the Road to Ending Seniors' Hunger

Proper and adequate nutrition is important to everyone's health, but it is especially important for those who are vulnerable to disease, or when life circumstances - such as limited mobility - make shopping, preparing and sometimes even eating a healthy meal difficult.

Meals On Wheels offers more than a meal.  The program supports people who are unable to tend to their own nutritional needs and are at risk for developing or complicating other health issues. Clients include senior adults, individuals who are convalescing or who experience physical, psychological or social disabilities that hinder their ability to shop or prepare meals for themselves.

 Proper an

Ima gine what it would be like to know that your parent or grandparent didn’t have the means to achieve the daily nutrition required to keep them healthy in their senior years.  IIIIIIn this community there are seniors living on a very limited income often forced to choose between paying for medications, rent or groceries - certainly not the way that anyone would picture their “golden” years.

S eniors in our community need our help now more than ever.  How we support our elderly is a measure of a caring community.  VON is committed to supporting our seniors – will you help?

Donate to VON Hamilton Meals On Wheels program today and you can help a frail, elderly senior receive the nutrition and independence they need.  For only $20, you can provide a senior with 5 hot nutritious meals per week.
