In
VON branches across Canada volunteers work in partnership with the
staff to develop, implement and deliver a wide range of services.
At the Edmonton Branch, volunteers assist in the following programs:
ADULT DAY HEALTH CARE
- is a day program to serve the recreational and social needs of seniors
with chronic health conditions. This program is situated in the atrium
of the Jubilee Lodge Nursing Home. Volunteers play a very interactive
role with one or more participants at a time. Activities vary from
day to day depending on that month’s schedule. In this setting,
volunteers should be high energy and willing to get their hands dirty!
FOOT CARE CLINICS
- are located throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas. Volunteers
assist with the overall operation of the clinic. They undertake the
reception and clerical duties as well as preparing the clients for
their treatment. In this setting, volunteers should be able to communicate
and work well with others, organize and maintain files and keep financial
records.
