Maria Papadopoulos brings her experience with government relations and public policy to the VON Board of Directors.

Maria Papadopoulos is responsible for intergovernmental and strategic economic relations for the City of Vaughan, Ontario. She has significant experience providing government relations counsel in the post-secondary education sector, including serving as director of government relations at Wilfrid Laurier University and government relations advisor at York University. In the private sector, Maria was the manager of government relations and special projects at Hydro One. Maria served as chief of staff to the government House leader, senior advisor to the minister of energy, and senior policy advisor to the minister of finance.  

Maria joined the York Region Children’s Aid Society Board of Directors in June 2020 and served on the risk oversight committee of the board and as vice-chair of the board.

Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from York University.
