Mr. Jim McCaw

Mr. Jim McCaw – Chair

Mr. McCaw is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Business Valuator. Mr. McCaw works as the Chief Financial Officer for the Regional Group.

   

Mr. Bob Russell

Mr. Bob Russell – Vice Chair

Mr. Russell enjoyed a career in the military, Federal Information Technology field and private sector consulting spanning five decades. Mr. Russell participated in, managed or led many large scale IT-based projects and organizational multidisciplinary senior management committees – both strategic and operational.

   

Louise Simard

Ms. Louise Simard
Corporate Secretary & Chair, Governance Committee

Ms. Simard is a lawyer who has practised law in the private sector and in the public sector as Legislative Counsel and Law Clerk. She was elected to the Saskatchewan. Legislative Assembly in 1986 and became Minister of Health and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women amongst other portfolios in 1991. As Minister of Health she lead a major reform of the provincial health system. She subsequently was CEO of the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations and the Health Employers association of British Columbia. She has been Vice-Chair of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission and she has been an active participant in many community organizations and has sat on many Boards as a director or Trustee, such as the Medical Council of Canada, the Canadian Nurses Association and the Health Benefits Trust of British Columbia, to mention a few.
 

Mr. Stephen Cotsman

Mr. Stephen Cotsman, Chair,
Pensions and Benefits

Mr. Cotsman retired in 2007 after twelve years as the Managing Director/CEO of the CBC Pension Plan. Previously, he held various senior financial positions. He is currently a member of a number of Boards including the Investment Committee of the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) and the University of Ottawa's Treasury Committee. Mt. Cotsman has completed the Director Education Program sponsored by the Institute of Corporate Directors and he has successfully attained status as a Designated Director (ICD.D).
                     

Mr. Ian McLeod

Mr. Ian McLeod – Treasurer

Mr. McLeod is currently a partner with Cruiseship Centers in Etobicoke. Prior to this, Mr. McLeod worked as the CEO, Executive VP of Member Services, Senior VP of Finance and Administration for Hepcoe Credit Union limited, now known as Meridian Credit Union Limited. Mr. McLeod has also held senior positions with McLeod Associates, Quorum Growth Inc, Citibank Canada, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board and Investors’ Group Inc.

                     

Ms. Donna Hutton

Ms. Donna Hutton – Regional Director, Western Region

Ms. Hutton is a principal with Hutton & Associates Consulting that deals in policy development and government relations. Ms. Hutton served as Executive Director of the Alberta Associations of Registered Nurses and Director of Nursing for the Cross Cancer Institute and the University of Alberta Hospitals.

                     

Mr. Dean P. La Bute

Mr. Dean P. La Bute -
Regional Director, Central Region

Dean P. La Bute has a strong history of advocacy work in the fields of Primary Health Care, Disability Issues and Human Rights. In November of 2005, Mr. La Bute was appointed to the Inagrual Accessibilty Standards Advisory Council of Ontario. Previously, he was a founding member and served on the Accessibilty Advisory Council of Ontario as mandated under the Ontarians With Disabilities Act, 2001. Mr. La Bute was also the founding Chairman of the Windsor - Essex County Chapter of the Ontario Disabilities Act Committee and was a regional representative for the provincial committee.

Me. La Bute brings an extensive background in community involvement. Currently, he is a member of the VON Canada National Board of Directors. Mr. La Bute is one of two Directors representing the Central Region of Canada which is comprised of Ontario, Quebec and Nunavut. He is a member of the Windsor - Essex County Association For Persons With Physical Disabilities ( APPD ) Board of Directors. Mr. La Bute is serving as the immediate Past President of the VON Windsor - Essex County Endowment Foundation Board of Directors. He also continues to serve as a long time member of the Windsor - Essex County United Way's Speakers Bureau.

Mr. La Bute has been the recipient of many community service awards over the years including The Government of Canada Volunteer of the Year Award in 2001; The Province of Ontario Community Action Award; The City of Windsor Sheila French Memorial Award; The Canadian Cancer Society Terry Fox Award and most recently, The Queen's Jubilee Medal and the VON Canada National Service Award to just name a few.

   

Neil Stuart

Mr. Neil Stuart - Regional Director, Central Region

Neil served for many years as a partner and practice leader of the health care consulting practices of Price Waterhouse, PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM. He is on the boards of the Toronto East General Hospital, the Ontario Hospital Association, The Change Foundation and the Greystone Health Trust. He was also actively involved in the Alzheimer’s Society serving on local and Canadian boards. He is currently active in the formation of the Patients’ Association of Canada, an organization that is patient-governed and patient-led and is dedicated to giving voice to the patient and improving the health care experience for all involved. Neil has a PhD in Health Policy from Brandeis University and has held teaching appointments at the University of Ottawa and the University of Toronto.
                     

Sandy Goulding

Mr. Sandy Goulding - Regional Director, Eastern Region

Mr. Goulding currently works as the Manager of Business Development for Tekoil and Gas Corporation’s Canadian Operations. Mr. Goulding has worked for the Federal Government in a number of departments and in a political capacity within the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Government.
   

Sandy Goulding

Mr. Wayne Foster - Regional Director, Eastern Region

Mr. Foster spent the major part of his career in industry as a senior manager and executive with Michelin Tires in Canada, the USA and France. He has been a Facility Manager, Vice President, Manufacturing, and the Senior Executive in Nova Scotia. He has served on the boards of various charitable and educational organizations and is currently the Chair, VON Lunenburg County Branch.

                     

Mr. Joshua Dougherty

Mr. Joshua Dougherty,
Member at Large

Mr. Dougherty obtained a Bachelor's Degree in History, with a minor in Women Studies, at Concordia University in Montreal Quebec and a Master's Degree in American History at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. He studied law at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and is counsel for the Canadian Radio-Television Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in Gatineau, Quebec.
                     

Catherine Danbrook

Ms. Catherine Danbrook - Member at Large

Ms. Danbrook was formely the Vice-President, Clinical Programs at the Ottawa Hospital.  She has also previously held the roles of CEO of the Rehabilitation Centre of Ottawa, the Executive Director of the Ottawa Home Care Program and the Associate Executive Director of the Former VON Ottawa-Carleton Site. 
                     

Jeannie Daniels

Ms. Jeannie Daniels - Member at Large

Ms. Daniels has a wealth of experience in Aboriginal Health issues, most recently holding the position of Director of Health Services for the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council, and prior to that as an Aboriginal Health Policy Analyst for Manitoba Health, Aboriginal Health Unit.

                     

Rob Ireland

Mr. Rob Ireland - Member at Large

Rob Ireland currently holds the title of partner at Mansfield Communications. Prior to joining Mansfield Communications in July of 2005, Rob was director of executive and internal communications for Hewlett-Packard, Americas Region where he managed HP's executive presence throughout North and South America. Previous to that role, Rob was manager of corporate and public relations for HP Canada which was a position he assumed through the merger of Compaq Canada and HP Canada. Rob's agency experience began at Cohn & Wolfe where he was a practice manager for the business-to-business technology group. He also was manager of corporate affairs & internal communications at Xerox Canada - positions he assumed after holding a direct sales role.

Rob has an H.B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario

                     

Francine Girard - Member at Large

Dr. Girard is currently Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Montreal. Previously, she held the position of Vice-President and Chief of Practice, Western Region, for VON Canada. Dr. Girard brings some expertise as a health care consultant and has held the position of Senior Vice-President, Professional Practice and Research, and Chief Nursing Officer for a large Health Care Region.

   

Lynn Powers

Ms. Lynn Power - Member at Large

Lynn is the Director of Policy & Practice with the Association of Registered Nurses of NL  She is currently the Board Chair for VON St. John’s.  She sits on the provincial telehealth , healthline and the Personal Health Information Act Steering committees and is involved with several coalitions to develop public policy in areas such as the promotion of breastfeeding, Alliance Against the Use of Tobacco, enhancement of services to seniors, the enhancement of community based mental health services, a ban on the use of cosmetic pesticides to name a few.

Lynn  completed her Diploma in Nursing in 1982 at the General Hospital School of Nursing and obtained my BN (1996) and  Masters of Nursing (2001) degrees through Memorial University of Newfoundland School of Nursing, where she has been an adjunct professor since 2002
