Directing Your Gift
There are many ways in which you can direct your donation to VON Canada and ensure that it is used according to your wishes:
General Donations
Funds raised are used to fulfill the mission of VON Canada and its sites across Canada. Your donation will make a real difference to those in need of community services and home care, and will ensure that VON is able to continue providing care to you, your family and friends whenever and wherever they are needed.

Donating to a Specific Site or Program
If you wish, at the time of your donation you may name a specific VON site or program as the recipient of your donation. Your donation will then be used to facilitate activities within that particular program, community or VON site.

Endowments
Donors prepared to make a contribution of $10,000 or more may wish to consider the
establishment of a named endowment fund. Endowment funds are created in accordance
with the interests and wishes of the benefactor(s) and are usually named in honour
of the contributor(s) or in someone’s memory. Many endowments have been created
with terms that allow the organization access to interest generated by the fund
on an annual basis, while others allow encroachment on the initial contribution.
VON Canada will work with you to determine the terms and conditions of an endowment
gift in accordance with your wishes. For more information on endowed gifts, please

Gifts in Kind
This option allows donors to forgo giving a highly liquid form of asset like cash to a charity in favour of an alternative type of tangible asset. Under particular circumstances, gifts in kind receive special tax considerations under the guidelines set by the CRA. In order to qualify as a gift in kind, the asset must be a donation of tangible property, and cannot be a service. Please contact VON Canada to discuss a possible gift in kind.

VON Canada Endowment Donor Profile
"The Wayne and Joan Myles Fund". Mr. Myles is a Past Chair of both the VON Canada and VON Canada Foundation Boards of Directors. Both Mr. and Mrs. Myles are long-time VON supporters, both nationally and in their home community of St. John's, Newfoundland. In 2005, the Myles commited to a minimum of $50,000 contribution to VON Canada Foundation over the following 5 years, which was to be used to create an Endowment Fund in their name. The Fund is currently being built, and the interest earned will be disbursed annually in the perpetuity to benefit VON in its work with aboriginal communities and Nurse Practitioner programs.
