VON Canada was a Partner with “From Medicare to Home and Community” (M-THAC). The M-THAC research unit, funded by CIHR/SSHRC under their Community Alliance f or Health Research (CAHR) program, produced a remarkable number of projects examining various aspects of the policy implications of the shift of health care from hospitals to home and community. Putting Home and Community Care on the Agenda
The demand for home and community care services has increased dramatically in recent years. By some estimates, approximately 850 000 Canadians received homecare services in 2002. The gap between the demand f or services and the relatively min or expenditure of public funds on these services led 150 leaders from the home care sect or - practitioners, policy makers, academics and business people - to gather at a F or um roundtable to develop a concrete vision and action plan f or the future of homecare in Canada .
