Adult Day Program
VON Simcoe County’s Adult Day Programs are designed for adults with Alzheimer Disease or related dementias, and for seniors who would benefit from socializing with others. Our professional staff, who are specially trained with a recreational background, provide a range of social and recreational activities, such as exercises, games, gardening and crafts. Respite and support are added benefits for caregiving spouses and families.

Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together (SMART)©
The SMART Program offers exercise classes to community members 55+ who wish to improve their strength, balance and flexibility, regardless of current ability. SMART’s gentle exercises are facilitated by fitness instructors who receive specialized training and ongoing education to deliver safe exercise programs for all levels of ability. SMART in-home, retirement home and community-based classes are for those looking to improve their overall health through low-impact exercises. Healthy Aging & Falls Prevention education classes are also available to individuals wishing to learn strategies to maintain their independence safely within their home. In-Home Adult Respite
The Respite and Enrichment Program is an in-home service, provided by qualified personal support workers (PSWs). It offers support to both individuals requiring assistance to remain safely in their home, and an opportunity for caregivers to rest, go shopping, attend appointments and visit with friends. A variety of meaningful activities are offered for clients and may include companionship, playing games, assistance with personal care, and outings. This service is available to clients and caregivers who are living with Alzheimer Disease and/or a related dementia.”

Home at Last
Home at Last (HAL) provides support to seniors and adults with disabilities as they are discharged from a hospital stay to their homes. This service ensures clients are settled in safely through assistance with transportation, errands such as prescription and grocery pick up, as well as a complimentary meal. Follow-up telephone calls from a HAL staff member are also included.
Linking clients to additional supports in their community is a priority with VON ensuring their clients’ ongoing safety and independence.
