VON Canada has named health industry executive Moritz Bolle as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective December 12. He joins VON on November 2, and will succeed Jo-Anne Poirier following a planned transition period. 

Moritz brings more than twenty years’ experience leading strategy, operations and transformation at healthcare, consulting and mission-driven organizations in Europe and Canada. His career has taken him from scientific research as a biochemist to management consulting, executive leadership in the non-profit sector, and most recently to leading Canadian operations and innovation at Teladoc Health, the world's leading provider of virtual care. He is motivated by helping organizations translate ambitious strategies into tangible improvements for the people they serve.

“I have spent my career helping organizations navigate complexity, evolve operations, pursue new opportunities and build stronger teams, and I am excited about what lies ahead for VON”, said Moritz. “Health care is increasingly moving beyond the walls of hospitals and into people’s homes and communities. VON has a unique opportunity to combine the human relationships that have defined it for more than a century with new technology and new ways of working that can make care more proactive, connected and personalized.”

His background in technology, organizational transformation and health care, and his passion for what lies ahead for VON, position him very well for this role.”  

According to Jo-Anne Poirier, who will remain in her role during a six-week transition period, “Moritz’s selection as VON’s incoming President and CEO couldn’t come at a better time. We have just completed implementation of our VON Connect program, providing electronic health records to our home care clients and back-end support to our service providers. Our 2025-2030 Strategic Plan has a sharp focus on technology and innovation to support clients and their families, our care providers, and the health system as a whole. Our team is eager to continue along our transformation journey.”

Founded in 1897, VON was at the forefront of delivering health and community care in all parts of Canada long before public health care existed. Its nurses and volunteers delivered healthcare at home in city streets, rural settings and in Canada’s frontier. 

They established cottage hospitals, responded to major crises, and served in both world wars. And since that time, they remain focused on improving the health, independence and quality of life of those they serve. Today, VON is Canada’s longest-serving home and community care charity, delivering care to more than 10,000 clients each day across Ontario and Nova Scotia.
